Come as you are, bring who you love
The centennial celebration is a come-and-go, family-friendly afternoon at Lincoln Elementary. Wander through the school, meet other alumni, share a memory, and help us mark 100 years of the Lions.
Whether you graduated in 1955 or your child is in kindergarten right now, this is your day too. There is no ticket, no cost, and no need to RSVP — just come.

What to expect
- Self-guided tours of the building — classrooms, hallways, and gathering spaces
- A memory wall where you can post your own story or add to what others have shared
- Historical displays with photos, yearbooks, and artifacts from a century of Lincoln
- A time capsule ceremony at 3:30 PM — sealing a new capsule for future generations of Lincoln students to open
- Light refreshments
- An open invitation to reconnect with classmates, teachers, and neighbors

A century in a time capsule
Sometime in [year TBD], someone at Lincoln Elementary sealed a time capsule inside these walls — a small collection of the objects and moments they thought would speak for their era. During an all-school assembly the week before the celebration, Lincoln's students will gather to open it together.
Its contents will be on display at the celebration on October 11 for everyone to see.
At 3:30 PM that Sunday, Lincoln's principal will lead a short ceremony to seal a new time capsule — filled with contributions from today's students, teachers, and community. It will remain in the school until [year TBD], when it will be opened by a future generation of Lions.
If you can, come stand between one hundred years of Lincoln, past and future — and help us send a message forward.
Getting there
Lincoln Elementary is located at 300 Teeters Ct. in Iowa City, off Melrose Avenue in the Manville Heights neighborhood.
Free parking is available in the school lot and along adjacent streets. Additional parking is available in the lot behind the school at 915 River St., Iowa City, IA 52246. Please observe posted signs.
Accessibility & kids
The building is wheelchair accessible, and children of all ages are warmly welcome — this is their school too.
